<summary type="html">Hi,

I was wondering if we could remove the Console Manager address after we've installed and configured the SRE-v.
I understand we will not be able to do stuff like importing or exporting virtual machines from the SRE-v. However we would still be able to access the SRE-v and the VMs running on them and we could deply new virtual machines using the vSphereClient. Of course if we need to install or upgrade the SRE-v we would want to deploy an IP to the console manager again.
The reason I'm asking is because a network administrators would be hesistant to deploy an extra IP address just for the console manager and would like to manage everything using the vsphere client.

Would this cause any undesirable effect? Our tests showed nothing disastrous other than not able to perform the SRE-v import/export activity. Anything I'm missing?

    <summary type="html">Hi,

I have a Virtual machine on vswitch0 on VLAN1. This is the only virtual machine on the vswitch.
(The virtual machine  is running linux)
We are having performance issues with dropped packets.

For example, here are the snapshots we have while debugging this:

External Traffic generator:
Total 150,000 packets (64bytes each) sent  at the rate of 20,000 packets/sec.

vlan1 (stats):
Total 150,000 packets (64bytes each) sent at the rate of 20,000 packets/sec.

VM - Ethernet driver seeing only 145000 (approximately).

Looks like the vswitch0 is dropping packets. Is there a way to debug this? See packets coming in on vswitch
and packets going out the vswitch?

This looks like a very serious problem and is a definite show stopper for our application.

Could someone please help us in gaining insiight into this problem.

Thanks!
Hi WARD,

Your IOS side config looks good to me. Did you create a new VM network port group with Vlan 40 in ESXI? Can you also send the SRE-V/ESXI side of the networking configuration? Can You send the output of ¿show hypervisor vswitch¿ from the sre-v console manager.

Thanks,

Radhika

Subject: New Message from WARD COBLEIGH in Service Ready Engine Virtualization - Technical Questions: Issues with Configuring multiple VLANS on the SRE-v.

WARD COBLEIGH has created a new message in the forum "Technical Questions":

--------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

We are having problems configuring virtual machines on different VLANS. The configuration is similar in concept to the Cisco documentation on "Configuring VLANS with Cisco IOS Layer 3 Routed Configuration"

We are unable to ping to our virtual machine on vlan 40. The VM on Vlan1 (on which the hypervisor is as well) seems to respond.

Please see the config below.. (We have two SREs on the router. You need to look at sm2/0 and sm2/1).
I have also a dump of sm2/1 switchport.
How can we troubleshoot this? There is also a dump of sm

    <summary type="html">Hi,

We're using an SRE-900 plugged into an ISR2911 running IOS 15.1(3) T. Looks like the speed cannot be changed on this interface and is set to GIG. Our virtual appliance(VA) connects to this port via the vSwitch and our VA supports multiple speeds (10/100/1000).
Is there a way to set the speed or do auto negotiation or is 1000 the only option we have?

Thanks!

Here was the problem....there were several.

I had renamed the OVF file to remove the spaces but the contents had the virtual disk names with spaces still left over. Only when I opened the OVF did I realize this.

    <summary type="html">Hi,

I'm trying to import a virtual machine in OVF format (Actualyy it's 5 files. x.ovf and 4 disk files) onto the SRE-v.
I have an evaluation license that is still valid.

I am using the folloing command
# virtual-machine import ftp://&lt;ipaddress of FTPserver&gt;/VirtualMachines/x.ovf datastore datastore1 username anonymous password something name newvm

There are NO spaces in my virtual machine name or ovf file.

I get the following error when I run the command..
Cannot load the ovf file.

Could someone tell me what I'm missing..

Thanks for your help!</summary>
