How Do I Get Started

If you have a Voice Plus (DVCC) Developer Services subscription you can download the protocol specification and write your socket based application using whatever development platform you prefer. You must have a ICM System in order to test your implementation by utlizing an Application Gateway script node to connect to the server running your socket based application.

The Enterprise Application Gateway interface is a TCP/IP socket based protocol. There is no SDK for this interface and therefore a developer is required to write directly to the socket layer. Alternatively, Cisco Advanced Services has a set of pre-built software integration packages which can be used to integrate external applications. Standard interfaces include ODBC, Web/XML, WebSphere MQ, as well as a COM-based API/SDK. These packages are a cost effective option in order to reduce development time and accelerate time to market. Customers should first review the Advanced Services offerings before building their own Application Gateway. Details on these integration packages and the Application Gateway Specification are available in this Technology Center

Training

Recommended training includes the following courses. These courses are introductory and provide a general understanding of system architecture and application development requirements. Though not focused entirely on UCCE application development using Application Gateway protocol, these courses provide details that are important to developing for and supporting a UCCE system.

There are currently 3 proctored exams to validate skills and knowledge in UCCE implementation, development and support. These exams do not currently apply to any Cisco Career Certification.
