AXP versions 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 contain a kernel level bug which could cause a hang during disk I/O on systems idle for several weeks.    As a result we recommend that you upgrade to AXP 1.5.3 which resolves this bug.   To prevent running into the 1.5.1/1.5.2 bug when upgrading to 1.5.3, be sure to follow the steps below.

1.     Before upgrading to AXP 1.5.3 you should reload the service module to prevent a potential hang during the upgrade process.  On the service module enter the command ¿reload¿, wait for AXP to reload the service module, and then upgrade to AXP 1.5.3.

If you did not follow step 1 and the system freezes during the upgrade process follow the steps below.

1.    Reload the service module via the router reset command.  For example on the router you would type: ¿service-module <interface>  <slot>/<port> reset¿.

2.    If AXP boots up then retry your upgrade command which should work on this second attempt since AXP was reloaded via your reset command.

3.    If AXP cannot boot up, you will need to reload AXP via the boothelper file.   Paste the following link into your browser url field and follow the steps provided.
