OSGI Java App Bundles

Combination View Flat View Tree View
Is there anything special you have to do to deploy osgi bundles as applications on AXP. Does AXP 1.6 include a JVM and an OSGI container or do you have to add them before you can deploy an OSGI app.

Hi Paul,

Please refer below link for installing OSGI as add-on package in AXP and Access OSGI.

http://developer.cisco.com/web/axp/wikidocs?p_p_id=1_WAR_wikinavigationportlet_INSTANCE_hv6C&p_p_lifecycle=0&p_p_state=normal&p_p_mode=view&p_p_col_id=column-2&p_p_col_count=1&p_r_p_185834411_nodeId=803283&p_r_p_185834411_title=Admin+-+Add-On+Packages+and+Features

AXP included JVM but i don't think OSGI container will be part of AXP since OSGi add-on for Cisco AXP that runs on top of the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) layer, below link might be helpful for you to understand better.

Thank you. That first link does actually help as I start to get a better understanding of the concepts. I'm trying to do a proof of concept before installing on 600 of our routers. At this point I'm working with the emulated NME card in the Cisco supplied VMWare appliance. Any idea get a hold of the package referred to on that page?

OSGi support by Cisco is provided via the optional infrastructure add-on package, prosyst_mbs6.pkg, without any license key embedded.

It doesn't appear to be in the VMWare appliance.

Hi Paul,

Which version of AXP are you working with? The OSGi add on package was removed in AXP release 1.1.1 and is no longer supported. The current release is 1.6.1. As you know AXP contains rpm support so you can include rpms you require for your application such as a JRE and they'll be extracted into your guest environment. Since you are using the vmware NME emulator, you'll want to review documentation regarding limitations.

Thanks,

Brett
