Anurag Gurtu | A platform index is assigned to each platform based on the strength of the platform's CPU. The Application CPU index is then calculated based on the following formula: Application CPU index = Platform Index * CPU usage %
Bryce has an platform index of 10,000.
For example: If an application requires 60% cpu utilization when running on Bryce, the CPU index is 10,000 * 60% = 6000.
The advantage of using an index based value is so that the same package can be installed on other platforms without having to recalculate the cpu requirement (i.e. re-package). Other platforms will have a platform index relative to Bryce's platform index based on benchmark results. |
