Installing AXP 1.6.1 in ISM-SRE-300

Combination View Flat View Tree View
I've got a 2911 with an ISM-SRE-300. I'm trying to start from scratch - no AXP is present on the SRE, I'm in the boot loader when a initate a session to the SRE. The instructions seem to point me to using the helper image, which I do, but unsuccessfully:

ServicesEngine boot-loader> boot helper
Loading tftp://10.20.0.99/axp-helper-k9.sme.1.6.1 ... done.
Verifying ...
Corrupted netboot image  detected
done.

I've verfied that I do have access to the tftp server from the SRE and I've re-downloaded the sme tar.gz package again (on a linux environment) with the same results. I reset the SRE and rebooted the router several times. I've noticed that for some other issues, the md5 sums of the files have been posted - seems like they should be included with the files themselves available for download.

Is there any issue with the ISM-SRE-300 and 1.6.1? Should I expect to be in the boot loader when using an out-of-the-box board?

Thanks for any help.

You can use the standard IOS command, service-module ism 0/0 install url ftp://x.x.x.x/zzzz.1.6.1.pkg, to install AXP instead of going through the boot helper mode. Let us know if you still run into any issues. Make sure both ISR and AXP module have connectivity to FTP server.

Is there a provision in the service-module ism ftp command for a username and password? I tried embedding it in the url as the command did not seem to have username and password parameters. Or do I need to use anonymous ftp?

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Both anonymous FTP and specifying a username/password are supported.  To specify a username/password, please do the following:

ftp://<username>:<password>@<url>/axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.pkg

Also, please make sure you have the following files in the same FTP directory as axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.pkg:

1. axp-helper-k9.sme.1.6.1
2. axp-installer-k9.sme.1.6.1.prt1
3. axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.key
4. axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.pkg
5. axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.pkg.install.sre
6. axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.pkg.install.sre.header
7. axp-k9.sme.1.6.1.prt1
8. axp-timezone.sme.1.6.1.pkg
9. axp-timezone.sme.1.6.1.prt1

If this doesn't work, can you provide the error message that you are seeing?

Hope this helps,

-Carl

Hi Carl,

Recently I tried installing axp 1.6.1 on an out-of-the-box SM-SRE-700 and SM-SRE-900 hardware and ran into an issue that I couldn't resolve. Any help on this would be highly appreciated!
