From time to time we hear of customers who want to print scheduled reports. They want their report to be sitting in the printer waiting for them in the morning, that sort of thing. CUIC doesn't support this as built-in functionality, but you can do it using Microsoft Outlook.

There is quite a bit of interest in different techniques for using multiple AW/HDS servers with a single CUIC instance, for a number of reasons.

One reason people typically want to use multiple AW/HDS servers is to spread the load from a CUIC instance to multiple data sources. I've already blogged in the past about ...Read More

With the release of CUIC 7.5.3, there is one grid, the grid that was previously known as the "grouped grid". Since it now supports dynamic sorting it is now the only grid available.

One of the nice things about this grid is that much of its appearance can be customized by modifying the CSS (cascading style sheet) file that dictates its appearance. This is an undocumented technique, but should be fairly straightforward for anyone with a bit of HTML experience.

I've just published a fairly comprehensive list of ways to improve performance of CUIC 7.5.x on the Developer Community at http://bit.ly/85kB.

There are a few items that I've covered in blog posts before, but a ton of new content as well. The document covers the following topics:

  • Server considerations
  • Configuration options
  • Database maintenance

Want to show off your Web 2.0 mojo? Here's a fun way to share reports with your Twitter contacts.

First, find the report you want in the Report Manager, right-click it, and click on the Report Info context menu item.

The Report Info dialog is very handy, it gives you all the information you need to access a report without using the CUIC menus. Here, we want the "Interactive Grid Permalink":

In some very specific instances, you may want CUIC Web servers to share a database but query different AW/HDS servers, to split load. At first glance this doesn't seem possible as the AW/HDS that is queried is defined by a data source, which is stored in the CUIC database. However, there is a workaround which I'll show you in this post.

Most people don't realize just how extensible CUIS is. You can do a lot with it, however, if you know what you're doing.

For example, most people don't realize that you can build a completely custom display using custom-built XSLT files. It's true! You can give CUIS your own stylesheets, and then tell the report to use that stylesheet instead of the default displays.

Importing Reports from Premium to Standard

Combination View Flat View Tree View
Threads [ Previous | Next ]
I am trying to import a report created on CUIC premium into CUIC standard.
The importing process has no issues. Reports are imported and they appear in standard.

The issue we are facing is as following:
- When importing the report the first time, all works fine. The new report definition is created in standard and report works
- If we then decide to change something in the REPORT DEFINITION on the premuim, and try to re-import the report, the issue appears
- There is no error appearing or anything, but the changes in the report definition are not there.
- The new report is imported, without its new report definition. I believe this is because the new report definition has the same name and id as the one imported before it.

So, is there a way to delete report definitions from standard CUIC? I know in standard the report definition menu does not appear, so i am not sure where this can happen
if not delete, is it possible to FORCE CUIC standard to ALWAYS import the new report definition, and overwriting the one that was imported before?

Hi Omar,

If you update CUIC to the newest version: 8.5.4 it should work.
Cisco implemented a versioning of the reportdefinition and the reports and the new reportdefinition would have a new version and would therefore be implemented.

BR,
Stefanie

I have the exact same issue that Omar is having above, and I am running 8.5.4.
Is there a way to delete the defination file on Standard? Is there any work around for this?
Gerard.

You have to change the version of the new report def.
If the existing report def and the new report def. has different versions, the exsiting will be overwriting when importing the new one

i do not belive this works.
I have deleted the existing report before uploading the updated report again and the issue remains.
I see no way to remove the report defination with CUIC Standard (by design), but clearly CUIC Standard is not overwritting the report defination sucessfully, where there has been an updated version.
Cisco - is this a known bug - is there any workaround?
Regards,
Gerry

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this?
I tried updating the Report Def version, but the older one does not get overwritten?
Gerry

Just done some more testing on this. I did not realise that you had to manually update the revision number from the GUI in the Report Defination.
This does seem to work!
