Testing - why is it so important to Cisco?
Security underscores Cisco's product and service offerings. That being the case, we want to make sure apps are thoroughly tested before they are on-boarded into Cisco AppHQ™. Have a look at our app validation process to learn more to help you succeed.
Developer-testing
In addition to security concerns, we're also determined that our customers get a great user experience from apps they acquire through Cisco AppHQ™.
As a developer, you need to ensure your app passes basic functionality tests by carrying out some testing of your own. It's worth the effort and gets you one step closer to distributing your app to the Enterprise Market. Suggested basic functional tests are listed below:
- App properly installs/uninstalls without delay
- App does not exhibit an Application Run Time (Security agent) error
- All buttons/links work
- There’s no missing content, blank screens, unreadable text, incorrect graphics or poor formatting/alignment of text/fields
- App does what it says it does
- Display is optimized for the Cius 7” screen, orients both horizontally and vertically and is consistently correct for all user interface interactions
- App does not exhibit freezing, force closing, peg the device CPU, has a memory leak or show another form of instability
- App does not react adversely to interruptions by phone calls, text messages and alarms (e.g. an interruption should not halt a download/file transfer etc.)
- App does not react adversely to changing the device orientation, or to random input
- App does not excessively use device CPU, memory, or battery life resources
- App releases device features when requested (camera, recorder etc) by Cisco priority app
- App does not contain incorrect linking, e.g. to another app store - you should identify and correct any intents that open your app's details page in another app store
Once the above checklist has been completed for your Cius app, you will need to complete one more check to ensure your app doesn't require inappropriate access to sensitive information, or excessively use "High Privacy and High Security Permissions".
