Upload and Monetize

Once you've developed your Android App for the Cisco Cius™ you're more than half way there. We're keen to see your app, discuss where it should be placed within Cisco AppHQ™, and get it out there selling.

We’ve simplified our testing and on-boarding steps and built an app submission status report to show the status of your app within the on-boarding process.

To begin, you need to log-in with your Cisco User ID.
These are the stages you'll go through.

1)      Submit your APK for review
If you have not done so already, you will need to enrol as a Cisco Application Developer to be able to submit an APK for review. If you’ve already submitted an APK, you should go to your Developer Dashboard to add more apps. If you’re a Cisco Developer Network Partner, you should go to your Developer Dashboard and register to become an application Developer too, and then submit your app from the applications tab on your Dashboard.

For first timers, when you’re ready to submit your APK for review, start by enrolling as an Application Developer – providing a few details about you/your company and identifying your legal representative… and then add your app information - name, version, APK file, description and any testing criteria/instructions to assist our validation team (e.g. your app may need Cisco Collaboration products to function fully).  You can download a copy of our registration process guide here.

Helpful Tip: ensure you have pre-tested your app before you submit it.

Your app will immediately be subjected to a security scan (< 1 day) to confirm that it does not use any critical security or privacy permissions – you will get a flash screen message if your app fails anything at this stage.

2)      Review and further testing of your App

We will carry out our initial enterprise suitability review and user interface testing – our usability review (1-3 days) - and send you an email with rejection or return reasons. If it is appropriate, we will ask you to modify and submit a rectified version of your app.

We’ll then present successful apps to our decision makers who will select which should be on-boarded. For approved apps, we’ll send the legal representative a request to visit the Cisco Developer Network website to accept the terms and conditions so that we can proceed to the next step.

3)      On-boarding of approved Apps – our respective responsibilities

We will send a notification email to invite you to provide your complete app listing information to onboard your app into Cisco AppHQ™. At this point, we will automatically identify whether your app uses encryption and if it does, you will be prompted to answer the Export Compliance questions.

We then undertake our final security review (1-3 days) and manual validation (1-3 days), verification and testing processes to ensure your app fully functional. We will notify you of any problems that we experience at this stage and will work with you to resolve these to get your app fully on-boarded, and selling in Cisco AppHQ™.

The process can be depicted as follows:
