The App Validation Process
Cisco AppHQ™ the app store built specifically around the Cisco Cius™ Android tablet. AppHQ™ is differentiated as an enterprise focused, trusted source of credible business apps. Cisco is always looking for new innovative business apps to offer our customer base - currently serving 95% of the Fortune 500 companies.
The enterprise market is more security and privacy conscious than the consumer market. Due to this extra control, we have developed an app review and security/validation testing process to help ensure your app meets the standard our customers expect.
Our Validation Process
Cisco will preview, test, and approve all apps submitted to Cisco AppHQ™.
Cisco’s Validation Focus
- App quality - app must be suited to the enterprise market; and function as advertised
- Operation - app must not adversely impact the device health or operation and should focus to deliver a good user experience
- Security - app must not contain viruses, malware, or other code which may compromise the integrity of the functionality of your app or the device. Additionally, where the app uses "high security" permissions and "high privacy" permissions these must be appropriate to the functions of the app - we may ask for explanations to support their usage.
Why an App may not be approved...
An app may be rejected because it contains objectionable material - for example, material that is unlawful, harmful, abusive, tortuous, defamatory, libelous, obscene, offensive, pornographic, threatening, harassing, or used for the purpose of stalking another person.
Listed below are possible examples of why an app may not gain approval for distribution via AppHQ™:
- Export Compliance information incorrect/not provided
- Cisco Functional criteria not met - see developer-testing requirements
- Security issue or Cisco defined Critical Android Permission use in an APK; read about the additional testing Cisco performs.
- APK does not have a valid signature (ex: android debug)
- APK signature does not match previous version
- APK version number is not sequentially incremented in a later submission.
