What is the Cisco Jabber application?
Cisco Jabber is a Unified Communications application (client) installed on PCs, Macs, tablets and smartphones, giving users easy access to presence, instant messaging (IM), voice, video, voice messaging, desktop sharing, and conferencing.
There is currently no API available for the Cisco Jabber application.
What is the Cisco Jabber SDK?
This is the toolkit used to add collaboration capabilities, as featured in the Jabber application and listed above, to a web application.
The Cisco Jabber SDK comprises a set of JavaScript Libraries and REST interfaces that are used to build voice, video, IM, presence, voice messaging and conferencing capabilities into any web application.
Note: The Cisco Jabber SDK currently supports desktop browsers only and integrates with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Presence and Cisco Unity Connection on the back-end.
What can I do with the Jabber SDK?
- The Jabber SDK allows developers to embed Unified Communications functionality into a 3rd party web application or portal.
- The Jabber SDK is made up of four parts: Voice & Video, IM and Presence, Voice Mail Messaging and WebEx Meetings.
