Forword my previous email here:

Hi there,

I've upgraded my CUAE from 2.4.2 to 2.5beta, but I found that my
old applications can not run successfully any longer.

Log is appended at the end of this mail.

I understand that re-build the script within the 2.5 development
environment might be able to fix the issue, but please do not tell me
I have to setup every kind of CUAE version and build my applications
for each one of them ......

Any highlights will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best Regards,
Ruwei

Hi Ruwei:

2.4.2 Designer applications should be able to run on 2.5 servers without
much tweaking.
None of you 2.4.2 apps are running ? Can you try the re-build the script
within 2.5 environment.

Thanks,

-Zafar

Could you send a screen shot of the error, or attach the log? I ask
because we only see '?????' in your pasted message. Does our log file
have ???? too? Or do you see actual Chinese characters in the error log
instead of ????. If there are real Chinese characters in the log file,
could you attach the log so we can see the Chinese characters?

Also, are you putting Chinese characters in the 'Title' field of the
CreateImageFile action? I don't know why that would matter, but it
seems like that's maybe a part of the problem.

Hi Zafar,

Thanks for the reply.

Another application can run without any problem, but it does not have the action involved ("CreateImageFile").

I understand that re-build the scripts might be able to solve the issue(though I haven't tried out yet), but the thing is: we've already released our applications based on CUAE2.4.2. I'd like to found out the way to let it work in CUAE2.5 before my customer complains to me and I do not like the idea to build different packages for each CUAE version.

Any other way out? Thanks a lot!

Best Regards,
Ruwei

Seth,

Thanks for your email.

I actually see "????" in the log instead of Chinese characters, which is a problem haunted me for a long time. I'm using Windows 2003 server (Chinese) version.

I did not put Chinese characters in the 'Title' field of the CreateImageFile action.

I'm out of the office now and will see if I could get the full message with Chinese characters in it from system event log tomorrow.

Best Regards,
Ruwei

Do you mind sending your .mca file for the problem app?

Thanks
Seth

Hi Seth,

I'll reply to you when I come to office tomorrow. I do not have it at hand now.
Thank you very much for your help.

Best Regards,
Ruwei

Hi Zafar,

I rebuilt the application, went smoothly with the build part, but could not deploy it on the server now. I got "Disabled Error" and can not find the corresponding error messages in "Management" log.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Ruwei

Hi Ruwei:

As Seth mentioned, is it possible for you to provide your mca file ? You
can email directly to me or Seth.

Thanks,

-Zafar

Hi there,

Many thanks to Seth & Zafar for your kindly help.

I did a clean uninstall/re-install of CUAE 2.5 beta and finally got the problem solved:

It comes in two aspects:
1. When deploy a 2.4.2 mca on 2.5 beta, the management console always responses with an error message "Failed to upload file", and the application status is "Disabled stopped" , but if you wait for a while, and refresh the page, the application status changes to "Enabled Running". The error message is quite misleading.

2. For the error message "Failed to execute native action Metreos.Native.CiscoIpPhone.CreateImageFile", it was probably caused by a 2.4.2 Metroes.Types.CiscoIpPhone in GAC I placed there long before.

Best,
Ruwei

Hi Ruwei,

I'm glad you were able to figure it out.

The GAC thing can be quite tricky--if you do add 'core' CUAE files
manually to the GAC, it can throw off our installers. So good catch
there.

Seth
