Hi,
Our customer has 3 cluster and want to setup 2 CUAE Server. One as Master and second as Stand by server. My queries are -
- How Master and StandByServer works. Is there any specific configuration required for redundancy on CUCM in multi cluster scenario
- In CUAE Admin document it's specified that "Fewer than 240 simultaneous media streams are required and the projected amount of media stream traffic between IP endpoints" for multiple cluster scenario. What does this mean.
- How Load Balancing will work with mulltiple CUAE server. Is there any specific configuration required for load balancing on CUCM in multi cluster scenario

Hi Umesh,

You can configure one CUAE as the master and the other as the standby server. It does not need any specific configuration on the CUCM side. Only the concerned CUAE servers need to be configured. The configuration can be done on System->Redundancy page of both the servers.  Once the two servers are configured as master and standby, both the servers will start sending heartbeat messages to each other and it means that the configuration is successful. Now the standby is ready to register the devices to the CUCM in case the master crashes.

But there is an issue. The redundancy feature with CUAE is not complete yet. Till now only the devices are supported on the master/server redundancy. Say if the master goes down while an application is executing, then the standby server will only be able to register the devices in its device pools to the CUCM. It won't be able to keep the application running. Apart from this you will not be able to run the application with the settings you configured on the master server.

Precisely, the redundancy feature available with CUAE is not complete. We'll take this as a request and complete the redundancy related features in our forthcoming releases.

Rakesh.

So, with 8.X, where does CUAE stand wrt redundancy?  Is there graceful failover between servers?  Any more information I could review?

Thanks,

Ian
