There is no need to use 8080 port. Generally CUAE admin UI are visible to [url=http://ipaddress/cuaeadmin]http://ipaddress/cuaeadmin[/url].
Also see if you can ping the ipaddress of your CUAE from the remote server.

seems that the host is not even listening on port 8000. Where is this

configured port for the Application Server receiving http requests, but
where do you define this because it seems that this port has not even
been defined.

Essentially cuae-backup will backup the 'mce' database, any other additional databases in MySQL will need to be specified manually (read the section in the admin guide for directions).

So what other databases are there is probably your next question...

My experience is: if you take the time to do a backup, you won't need it. If you don't take a backup first, something will go wrong. 

Again, this is maybe just my luck :)

The Messaging API allows developers to interact with Cisco Unity

Developers: Install the Messaging Plugin developer tools to build
applications that interact with Cisco Unity Connection, Release 7.0, and

    <summary type="html">Whoops...that's what I get for working at 2:00am. I had a type-o in my
directory number I was using in the barge action. A sting instead of a
number does in fact case the Application server engine to restart. I'll
open a defect on that.

When I created a simple designer application with CUAE 2.5-BETA4, I get
a warning followed by a failure in the logs, the application server
process also seems to restart.

I tried to open a defect with Jira, but it failed.
