Media Engine and Application Server in Separate Boxes

Hi all!
Is it possible to install the Cisco Unified Media Engine SR2 (CUME) in a different box than the Cisco Unified Application Server SR2(CUAS)?

Which components must be installed in each one?

I'm facing the next "problem" with this dual-installation: I need to install 2 times the Cisco Unified Platform Services on both CUAS and CUME (along with some prerequisites). Is it OK?

At the time, I'm trying this configuration with virtual machines + undo changes feature (just for quick testing purposes before installing natively):

CUAS:
1. Microsoft .NET 3.0 Runtime
2. Java JDK 1.5 (includes JRE)
3. MySQL
4. Apache
8. Cisco Unified Platform Services
   5. Dialogic Host Media Processing v3.0 (DHMP)
   6. Microsoft WSE v3.0 Runtime
   7. MySQL ODBC Driver
9. Cisco Unified Application Server

CUME:
1. Microsoft .NET 3.0 Runtime
2. Java JDK 1.5 (includes JRE)
6. Cisco Unified Platform Services
   3. Dialogic Host Media Processing v3.0 (DHMP)
   4. Microsoft WSE v3.0 Runtime
   5. MySQL ODBC Driver
7 Neospeech Text-To-Speech Engine (Kate Voice)
8 Neospeech Text-To-Speech Server (TTS Server)
10. Cisco Unified Media Engine
   9. Nuance OpenSpeech Recognizer v3.0

As long as I understand, "Cisco Unified Platform Services" makes some changes to:
 A. mySQL: add mce database, create tables, etc.
 B. Apache: don´t know what it does besides manually configuring httpd.conf
 C. Licensing stuff: what is the relationship between the DHMP license (lmgrd.exe) and the CUAE Licensing Server (lmgrd.exe)?

According to the above lines, I found that:

1. Apache: Platform Services gets annoyed (it cannot start the service) because Apache is not installed there.
2. MySQL: there's no problem because at the beginning it asks you the IP adddress and it connects successfully.
3. Licensing stuff: it's where things get complicated.I don't understand what it really does. What I observe is that after restarting CUME, Windows alerts about "lmgrd.exe" issue (it cannot start). "lmgrd.exe" belongs to Dialogic HMP License Manager (which by the way was working perfectly before installing "Cisco Unified Platform Services").

1. Apache: I think it's OK.
2. MySQL: It went right.
3. Licensing Stuff: at least, after restarting, Windows does not report any problems with "lmgrd.exe" process (both from DHMP and CUAE licensing server), nor the  DHMP "dlgc_srv.exe" process.

So, my questions are:
1. Is it technically possible to install CUME and CUAS in separate boxes?
2. Is it OK to install "Cisco Unified Platform Services" (along with its prerequisites: DHMP v3, Microsft WSE v3.0, mySQL ODBC Driver) in both CUME and CUAS?
3. What about the licensing stuff that "Cisco Unified Platform Services" configures? Which is the effect on the Dialogic Host Media Processing component?

If you can point me to some references, I'd be great!
Thanks!

Hi Julio,

Your Answers are below

1. Is it technically possible to install CUME and CUAS in separate boxes?
A1. Yes.
For Application Server:-
1. Prerequisites steps till Mysql5 + Final Steps. (Except Dialogic HMP and Neospeech TTS).
2. CUAE Platform Service.
3. CUAS

For Media Engine:-
1. All steps in Prerequisites.
2. CUAE Platform Service
3. CUME.
Note: Media Engine doesnot work properly in Virtual machines.

2. Is it OK to install "Cisco Unified Platform Services" (along with its prerequisites: DHMP v3, Microsft WSE v3.0, mySQL ODBC Driver) in both CUME and CUAS?
A2. Answered above. Platform service needs to be installed on both CUAS and CUME.

3. What about the licensing stuff that "Cisco Unified Platform Services" configures? Which is the effect on the Dialogic Host Media Processing component?
A3. After installing CUME you will get SDK mode licenses for the media which is approx 6.

Thanks
