3.2.1 Prerequisite

This article lists the prerequisites for installing the Cisco Unified Application Environment when you want to prepare your the lab on a personal computer which runs on Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2003.

Hardware Prerequisites #

  • A machine hosting both the Cisco Unified Application Server and Cisco Unified Media Engine have at least 1.5 GB of RAM.
  • An Intel processor is required to run the Cisco Unified Media Engine properly.

Laptops and AMD Processors #

The Cisco Unified Media Engine is not supported on AMD processors. Some laptops with Intel processors are not compatible with the Cisco Unified Media Engine due to incompatible APIC timer hardware. More information ...

Software Prerequisites #

The only tested operating systems for the 2.5.x SDK version of the Cisco Unified Application Environment are Windows 2003 Standard Edition SP1 and Windows XP Professional SP2.

Please note Microsoft Windows Vista is not supported at this time.

8.0.1 SDK version of Cisco Unified Application Environment is tested on Windows 2003 SP2 and VMware ESXi 4.0

Use the Software Prerequisites article to download and install the required 3rd-party software prior to installing the Cisco Unified Application Environment software.

Note:- Cisco Unified Application Environment on VMware ESXi 4.0 is not supported for production environment. Should be used be only for demo & SDK installations.
