Setting presence functionality is available only on the 7.x version of SOAP API &amp; not in 8.x &amp; 9.0 (yet to be released). I an other release the 7.x interface will be deprecated. Wouldnt advice you to go the SOAP route for setting presence status.

Alternate is XMPP BOSH interface (CAXL). Did you consider this option?

    <summary type="html">For updating phone status, you could very well do it by calling AXL on Call manager. No need to come via CUP. Currently the component which sets the DND status for a user adopts the very same concept.

    <summary type="html">I was curious if it would be possible to update status information from an external source.  Ideally what I would like to do is look at the state of a third-party PBX like Avaya.  By monitoring the state of the phone, I would like to update someone's status in CUP.
 
Would this be possible using the given APIs?</summary>
