Recently noticed that there have been repeated questions from our developer community complaining that they can't seem to get the beep to work with <record>. They have set the beep attribute to "true" alright, and the reference guide even says this is supported but why doesn't it work?

Earlier today, as I was typing a comment in our internal issuing-tracking system, I hit backspace to correct a typo. WHAM! I go back to the previous page, and my long-winded comment is gone. Apparently I somehow left the context of the text area (did I tab, or spuriously click, or??), which causes backspace to act as a hotkey for "Back". The web browser was not very forgiving of my mistake.

Are your IVR applications forgiving? They should be.

Mark Gibbs over at Network World has put together a spiffy little scoring system for customer service systems (including many criteria for IVR systems). How would callers score your IVR using Mark's guidelines? Place a call and find out, you may be surprised.

If you're using JNDI to connect to your database through Tomcat, then it's possible you've had to deal with database connection pool leaks. Your code tests fine, it's been reviewed, but in load tests or in production your app is unable to acquire database connections, the pool is empty!

Fear not, there are some handy parameters which can be set in your application's XML configuration file (in tomcat/conf/Catalina/YOUR_IP/YOUR_APP.xml):

Since currency, digits, date, time, yes/no don't have modality option do you think you can add this please.

Cheers

Hello Karl,

Thank you for your feedback. There already is an enhancement request in our internal issue tracking system with the ID of CSCzc20899, which recommends adding the modal setting to the elements you mentioned. Please refer to that ID in the future to check the status of that enhancement request. We have added a note to that enhancement request of your interest in this feature.

Regards,
Tam

thanks.

I know I'm posting lots of feature requests but these are construction recommendations.

Please do pay strong attention to all of this as its being felt on customer sites across multiple projects. i.e. the real world.

Audium has a strong framework but like anything there's more to do, and some gaps need plugging, there are short falls, pain pints and we need to help/remind and support you in that. So please don't doubt it!

I think there's several things the dev team need to do to keep the product really progressing. I do hope they listen! its people like us on the front line winning projects that keep everyone gainfully employed at the end of the day.

We all need to make progress! So hope all the comments recieve a warm reception.

Karl,

I was going through old posts and stumbled upon this one about modality and feature requests.

We do listen to our customers' feedback as it is extremely helpful for us. As with already mentioned Web Services, the feature of modality was added in the most recent version of the software as well. CVP 4.1, and Call Services Universal Edition 6.0, include modality for the built-in elements you listed.

Regards,
Michael
