Hi,
We will be upgrading from version IPCC version 7 to 8. so while doing this Call Studio will be upgraded too.
Are there any points to keep in mind. Or did you achive any intresting problems while doing that?
Do we need to do any kind changes on the applications?
Thanks

I haven't run into anything weird going from CVP 7 to 8 with Studio/Vxml
Server. I do recommend that you import each application into Studio 8
and Deploy to VxmlServer to create runtime code. But, I do believe that
Studio 7 apps would work directly on VXML Server 8.

A few little bugs were fixed in Studio 8 - no longer see multiple copies
of session variable names in the Substitution (variable) list; if you
rename an element Studio renames all its element data references to
match (FINALLY)!, you can invoke subdialogs from within other subdialogs.

But, I've run into a weird issue when audio files are missing:

If you have 'vxml version 2.0' on the gateway (so the gateway plays a
beep before starting to record) and if you have 'vxml audioerror' on the
gateway so that you are notified of missing audio files, then on my
system (and a few other people on the forum) CVP disconnects the caller
and the VXML Server license is left hanging until the Session Timeout
expires. You should definitely test this out on your system!

The only workaround that I've found is to remove 'vxml audioerror' from
the gateway config. But then you won't ever be notified of missing audio
files. If you DO want to be notified, then also remove 'vxml version
2.0'. Now you'll be notified of missing audio BUT the beep won't play
from the gateway when it takes a recording using the RECORD element.
Your choice.

Also, the gateway now seems to return 'error.noresource' for missing
audio rather than error.badfetch.http. I can see that the gateway
generates the error.badfetch.http but that it sends back to my
VXMLServer 'error.noresource'

I found a few issues.

1. Presence of slash in the sayitsmart audio path causes documenter to fail. For example TestPath\. The documenter will generate a corrupt doc.

2. Studio is unable to generate doc if the project is big. I was on a 2GB RAM machine, had to move to 4GB Windows 7 machine and could generate the doc.
Cisco has opened defects on these and will fix it in the next version or could provide a patch.

3. Audio file missing issue causing license to be lost

I am also experiencing the same as Janine. I have opened a TAC case and have asked Cisco to provide fix which does not break anything else. Will keep you all posted. I have discovered a few other issues too, investigating these further. Will post later based on my investigations.

Hemal,
I found this pretty funny: "I have opened a TAC case and have asked
Cisco to provide fix which does not break anything else"
Amazing to have to specify the last part, but I totally agree.
:-)

Well we are helping them improve their own product by finding issues before majority do.
I sometime feel that I am part of the volunteer qa team for CVP ¿
