Audio playback speed - too fast (sometimes)?

Hi,

I have a CVP app (invoked via SubdialogInvoke, if that matters) that plays back both TTS and recorded audio at blindingly fast speeds - speeds that make the audio impossible to understand.  It usually happens around TTS or Say-It-Smart and the playback speed-bump affects both TTS-generated audio as well as recorded audio.

I have checked the files on our media servers - the bit rates are all 64 Kbps, sample rate 8 KHz.  I did this just as a precaution because the audio files do not change - it's the playback that goes all haywire.

And the funny thing is, as the is playing back the audio, it gradually slows back down to normal.  But if you navigate back in the call flow  and revisit the element, the same fastest-faster-fast-quick-normal-normal playback curve occurs.

Obviously I'm inexperienced enough not to know where the audio is being played back, how it gets from the disk it lies on to the ear I listen with.  Bouncing the app doesn't fix it.

How can I diagnose this, repair it and prevent it in the future?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

The issue seems to be caused by the IOS (audio playout in IOS or the MRCP streaming). I would suggest you raise a Gateway TAC case, the tac team has the expertise to isolate and resolve the problem quickly.

Ranjana.

This particular issue was avoided by ensuring that no audio played silence.  I do not know why silence was a problem, but removing it (in both static prompts and say-it-smart plugins) made the error go away.
