Dear All,

Currently we have two CVP comprehensive environments as below.
1.    CVP 3.1 / ICM 7.1
2.    CVP 8.5 / ICM 8.5 - SIP
We want to migrate all CVP applications from CVP3.1 to CVP 8.5.
We don’t have Call Studio projects for few of those applications and need to know any possibilities to get application work by coping deployed application from CVP 3.1 to CVP 8.5 instead of import it to Cisco Unified Call Studio 8.5 and then deployed it to CVP 8.5.

Any help highly appreciated.

You cannot do a direct migration or copy deployed apps.  (for 3.1 to 8.5). The best approach would be to do it from studio.   This is to avoid any issues or side effects.  Also Cisco specs do not allow it. I have done a similar migration and had to kind of rebuild the apps.

Are you saying that the CVP3.1 Studio where the applications were originally developed is not available at all? That all you have are the deployed applications on CVP VXML 3.1 servers? You don’t have the applications themselves?

Geoff

If you don't even have the original project and need to have the deployed one in 3.1 working on 8.5, it won't work. At this point there is no reverse engineering on this is to get a project built from a deployed. I have writtten something, but its not working currently.

Highly appreciated about all of your valued replies.

Actually we don’t have CVP Studio projects for few IVRs which are currently deployed in CVP VXML 3.1.
What I did, simply copied deployed application to new VXML 8.5 and deployed application by using the script.
Application started Successfully without any errors and I noticed new settings.xml file under “data\application”.
I did complete test for all branches in IVR and everything work fine without issue.

Anyway I thought to build those again with CVP Studio 8.5 because as per "Hemal Mehta" post, to avoid any issues or side effects and officially CISCO doesn’t allow it.

Pradeep

You were lucky those CVP 3.1 apps worked. In CVP 3.1 you could initialize a bunch of session variables on the CVP Sub Dialog start node and that functionality was removed in a later version (can’t recall if it was 4.x or 7.x). After a system upgrade for one big customer, we had to recode the app to use an Application Modifier to initialize session variables.

Geoff

Even if you are able to somehow get it working without any changes, be aware that in future if you run need to make any changes, it will be an issue. Also if you were to engage Cisco for any issues they may not be able to provide support if they are to find that your apps have been directly deployed on 8.5 (from 3.1). They will ask you to convert first the right way.
It is best to convert them or rewite them using studio for 8.x.

Many thanks Geoffrey and Hemal .

I already started to rewrite those using Studio 8.5 and hope it will help to prevent any issues in future.

Regard,
Pradeep.
