<summary type="html">
Has anyone been successful at connecting the Show &amp; Share database with an enterprise search application. We would really like to crawl S&amp;S as part of our integrated enterprise search interface. We're currently using a FAST-based search application.

I'm a developer, not an engineer, but I know this is where I can find answers to questions like these. If the topic or approach is out of line, please let me know.

I have created a solution that allows you to integrate the content of SnS with SharePoint.  I created a timer job in SP that consumes the SnS API and executes a query using my desired criteria.  The XML response that is returned is then parsed and the links are posted to a SharePoint list.  I then create a custom search scope pointing to that list and execute a full crawl.

To make it even more tight, I also adjusted the DispForm.aspx on the SharePoint list so that it has the video embedded in the page using the JavaScript function that is in the SnS product documentation.  Just capture the CCSID value when consuming the SnS API and write it to a separate SharePoint list column....then you can plug it into the JavaScript function on the page.

I have not tried to crawl the actual SnS database, I would much rather just use the vendor provided APIs then try to hack something on the backend.

I may blog about my solution and provide the source code if I have time.  If I do, I'll update this post to include the URL.</summary>

This seems like a pretty obvious oversight.
One large challenge that I've run across in multiple customer scenarios is when a live event doesnt actually start on-time.
There is no way to programmatically start or adjust the event time in the case of schedule slippage like this.
Ideally I'd give the event leader an "easy button" or simple form to make such adjustments outside of SNS.
However, Im also interested, not just the provisioning of live events, but the ability to access the Q&amp;A as the event progresses. I'm thinking in terms of moving the Q&amp;A to other social applications.</summary>

    <summary type="html">Show and Share uses Basic Access Authentication, a commonly used method that allows a client to provide username/password credentials. You can choose a number of different clients/programming languages to implement this. Using Flash (ie, a swf) is just one of these.

There is an example of how to do this for Java using HttpClient3.0 in the Digital Signs section of the forum. The method of authentication is the same for Show and Share: http://developer.cisco.com/web/dms/forums/-/message_boards/message/2177726

There are many other clients that you could be using, and we don¿t have examples for all of them. However, since this is a fairly common form of authentication, you should be able to find various resources online that explains how to implement this for the client that you are using.</summary>

As of this posting, adding optional files or chapters through the API is not supported. The API calls enumerated in the API documentation are the only calls supported by Cisco.</summary>
