At the time this posting, there is no immediate plan for this.
This seems like a pretty obvious oversight.
One large challenge that I've run across in multiple customer scenarios is when a live event doesnt actually start on-time.
There is no way to programmatically start or adjust the event time in the case of schedule slippage like this.
Ideally I'd give the event leader an "easy button" or simple form to make such adjustments outside of SNS.
However, Im also interested, not just the provisioning of live events, but the ability to access the Q&A as the event progresses. I'm thinking in terms of moving the Q&A to other social applications.
