You edit the finesse XML layout from the "Layout" tab in the Finesse administration page. I am not sure what you mean by script. If you mean a custom finesse gadget, you place it on your own web server and reference it in the layout.
For example:
<gadget>http://<ip addr>:8080/userContent/Screenpop.xml</gadget>
where <ip addr> is the ip address of your web server.
