What is Finesse 8.5(3) DR 1?#
Finesse 8.5(3) Developer Release (DR) 1 is a release planned to be made available to the partner community on June 30, 2011. Additional information including new documentation will be made available at that time. 8.5(3)DR1 replaces any previous releases.
What about Finesse 8.5(1)?#
Cisco Finesse 8.5(1) has been superseded by Finesse 8.5(3)DR 1. Finesse 8.5(1) is deprecated and should no longer be used.
Basic API operations #
For Finesse 8.5(3) Developer Release (DR) 1 the basic call operations are Answer, Hang-up, Hold and Retrieve. In addition there are new web services APIs for custom gadgets.
What is the packaging? #
Cisco Finesse is packaged as a virtual machine appliance. The operating system (Linux), the application software, and the database are all bundled together in a VMWare virtual machine. In this release, there is a single node only (there is no Side B second node to enable High Availability).
Does Cisco FInesse depend on any other Cisco components? #
Cisco Finesse depends on Unified Contact Center Enterprise. Cisco does not allow any component of Cisco Finesse to be used without a Unified CCE Agent License.
What is the user interface? #
All of the user interface elements in the Finesse desktop are implemented as OpenSocial Gadgets. Finesse is a thin-client user interface and does not depend on any client-side executables.
What API's are supported by Finesse? #
All Gadgets in the Finesse desktop are implemented using the published APIs. These APIs are documented in the Cisco Finesse Web Services Developer Guide. See Documents.

Are there any legal considerations associated with the gadgets? #
Downloading the SDK zip generates a license agreement, which you must accept. For the purposes of Finesse 8:5(3) DR 1, the following rules apply: 1) The Cisco gadgets and gadget code can only be used in solutions where there is a Unified Contact Center Enterprise. It is not permitted to use Finesse 8.5(3) DR 1 or gadgets built for it in any Cisco Unified CCE production environment. This release is lab only. 2) Cisco does not have intellectual property rights to any modifications to the gadgets. Cisco intellectual property is limited to the gadgets as they are shipped by Cisco prior to any potential modifications performed by customers or partners.
