Getting Started With Cisco Intercompany Media Engine

  1. Review the Cisco IME Overview slide deck to learn about the technology, deployment models, and required components.

  2. Review the Verification Involving PSTN Reachability specification (Internet-draft)

  3. Subscribe to the Cisco IME blog to receive updates from the interface Product Manager.
     
  4. Obtain the requied software

    1. Cisco Developer Network Program members should consider purchasing the Cisco Unified Communications NFR Bundle which includes the software required for IME deployments. Membership and program information can be found at Cisco Developer Network Program.

      1. You must have a Cisco.com account with partner level access to purchase the Cisco UC NFR Bundle.  If you do not have an account, please register for one at https://tools.cisco.com/RPF/register/register.do.  If you have an account, but have forgotten your password, you can reset it at http://tools.cisco.com/RPF/passwordreset.do.
         
      2. Contact the CDN Help Desk to confirm if you have partner level access associated with your Cisco.com account.  If you do not, it may take 3 – 5 days to apply this level of access to your account.
         
      3. Once you have received confirmation from the CDN Program office, you can order this product online by following these instructions:
         
      4. To purchase the latest Unified Communications NFR Software bundle
        - Navigate to Cisco Marketplace
        - Login using your Cisco.com UserID
        - Click on Unified Communications NFR Software (display box)
        - Select Unified Communications Not-For-Resale Products link (small link at top of page)
        - Select Cisco Unified Communications System Release NFR Program (drop down menu on right)
        - Select Technology Developer Partner
        - Click Add to cart


    2. Partners who only require Cisco IME software can navigate to the Cisco.com Software Download site.  Select Products --> Voice and Unified Communications --> IP Telephony --> Call Control --> Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Call Manager) --> Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.0 or 8.5 --> Intercompany Media Software 
       
  5. Obtain the required hardware

    1. Cisco Developer Program members are eligible to purchase Cisco hardware at a discount.  Program details can be found by clicking here.  (Partner Login Required). 

    2. Non-Cisco Partners can obtain the required hardware through a local Cisco sales representative, Distribution Partner, or Channel Partner.

  8. After Cisco Unified Session Manager and IME installation has completed, remember to activative the Cisco IME Service via the Command Line Interface.
