Am I correct in that the current download doesn't contain the plugin?
 
... desperate to start developing with jabber....

Hi Erik,
You should be able to get the latest plug-in [url=http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/release.html?mdfid=283882159&flowid=28521&softwareid=283995793&release=9.0(1)&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest]here
You can also request an RAVE access to get to the testing lab here for more experiment.
