Testing your Jabber app
If you are developing a web application integrating Jabber technology, listed below are the Cisco back-end server products to which you'll need to connect, to enable you to integrate telephony and IM and Presence:
- Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6(1): required for Jabber Voice and video functionality. We support 7.1(4) and above.
- Cisco Unified Presence 8.x: required for on-premise IM and Presence functionality
- Cisco Unity Connection 8.6(1): required for Voice Mail. We support version 8 and above.
- WeEx Connect: for hosted deployment of IM and Presence
There are three main ways you can access these server components to develop your app:
Option 1: Use the Shared Jabber Sandbox Environment
Option 2: Use the Rich UC Sandbox Environment
Option 3: Install the Cisco back-end server products in your lab
Option 1: Use the Shared Jabber Sandbox Environment
Users can test Voice, Video, IM and Presence using the Jabber Shared UC Sandbox environment. This offers a hosted installation of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unified Presence and Unity Connection Voicemail. See diagram below.
All partner connections terminate on the same UC Environment.
Please note, in this scenario, Users do not have admin access to any of the UC servers in the Sandbox. This is only available with the Rich UC sandbox. After receiving access credentials, you will be able to connect your web app to these servers for development and testing.
Option 2: Use the Rich UC Sandbox Environment
The Rich UC Sandbox Environment is available to developers who are creating integrated collaboration applications using a broad range of Cisco technologies.
The Rich UC lab is a hosted environment that offers a private VM installation of all the UC products for you to use.
Users have total admin control over this installation.
See the architecture below.
Through our Rich UC Sandbox portal, users can select a number of pre-built topologies which suit their testing and development needs. IPsec and Anyconnect VPN is used to connect to the lab. Hardware VPN is also available for Phones and servers located at the user site.
Option 3: Install the Cisco back-end server products in your own lab
The Not For Resale (NFR) bundle is a way for CDN members to purchase development-only-use licenses for the above Cisco Communications products for a discounted price of $275.
Purchasing the NFR bundle will enable you to install the necessary products in your own development lab and conduct in-depth testing and development.
If you're a CDN member, the Developer Support cases included within your CDN membership fee will be useful when installing and using the bundle
