What is Jabber?
Cisco Jabber is a unified communications (UC) application that lets users be more productive, anytime, from anywhere on any device. They can quickly and easily find people, see if and how they are available, and collaborate using their preferred method, including instant messaging (IM), voice, video, voice messaging, desktop sharing and conferencing.
The Cisco Jabber application is available for PC, Mac, tablet and smartphones and can be used with on-premise or cloud-based UC services.
The main focus of this Jabber Developer site is to provide you with a Jabber web tool kit to enable you to integrate Cisco Jabber collaboration capabilities directly into your web applications.
But we've also recently made it possible for you to launch the Cisco Jabber application for PC, Mac, tablet and smartphones from within your mobile application.

Using Cisco Jabber UC capabilities, whether within your own web application, or within the Cisco Jabber application on devices, users can communicate and work with colleagues, partners, and customers more quickly and securely through best-in-class Cisco unified communications. It is built on open standards for interoperability and integrated with commonly-used desktop business applications.
End users get a consistent experience across platforms, devices and on-premises & cloud-based deployment alternatives so they can choose their preferred options without sacrificing user capabilities.
Technically, the Cisco Jabber family includes and builds upon Cisco Unified Personal Communicator, Cisco Mobile and WebEx Connect, taking advantage of intelligence in Cisco networks and Cisco Unified Communications Manager call control to deliver secure, clear and reliable communications. This results in a greater user acceptance and less risk.
