When installing the Cisco Smart Business Portal client version 2.0 on a Vista computer you will need to disable "User Account Control" temporarily. You can do this by going to:

Control Panel --> User Accounts --> Turn On or Off User Account Control

Once installed, you can turn it back on and the Smart business portal client will run fine.

We are looking at updating the client for the next version so this will not be necessary.

A good place to start is to use the Smart Business Portal diagnostic utility to verify accesiblity into the databases. Also, make sure you use the "test" button in the client settings of the Smart Business Portal client to make sure you can communicate from the portal client, to the server component. We'll follow up with you directly on this.

Hi Brett,
As you know, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 and 4.0 is compatible with the Cisco Smart Business Portal (CSBP).

The Dynamics CRM 4.0 Virtual Server Demo image software can be downloaded from Microsoft at:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=DD939ED9-87A5-4C13-B212-A922CC02B469&displaylang=en

We will be doing some testing to see if these VPC images will work to setup a Cisco Smart Business Portal demo kit. There may be some aspects that are "locked down" so it may not be ideal.

Alternatively, if you have an MSDN subscription license, the msdn website will have all of the software you need to install a Microsoft CRM server which will give you the best flexibility and performance.

Hi Miroslav,

We will reach out to you directly to assist with your install. In general, the CSBP server components can be installed on a server performing other roles, but we reccomend not to install co-resident on IPCC, or Communications Manager, etc.

You can even run the CSBP software in a Virtual Machine environment.

Hi Brett,

The out of box adapters for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 and 4.0 and Microsoft Great Plains 9.0 and 10 are included in the core CSBP download .zip file. These business adapters work across the versions because the update to the new version didn't change this area.

You will see the files called "CiscoGPAdapterSetup.msi" and "CiscoCRMAdapterSetup.msi". Once you install these files, the business adapter web service is installed for the respective database application.

If you go to IIS, you can actually test the web service by right clicking the .aspx file for the web service and click on "browse". If you can see the WSDL, it should be installed correctly.

We'll reach out to you directly to assist you with resolving this.

Regards,
