RE: How to cause a phone to go off hook when using OOD REFER.

Hi,
This question concerns a click-to-dial application.
I have a Cisco UCM 7.1 with SCCP phones.
I have a SIP Trunk into that CM and am sending a SIP OOD REFER message to make a call from one phone to another.
Currently
the calling (referred) party in that call needs to answer their phone
and then the callee's device is alerted.  My preferred user experience
is that the calling party's device goes off hook when it is referred and
the callee device alerted immediately.

I understand I
can configure a device to be auto-answer for ALL calls but this is not
desirable for the majority of calls to these devices.

So
is anyone able to help with this?  I've been looking for an answer in
the docs but no luck so far.  Possible options I've considered:
1 - A way to configure a device to only auto-answer for certain caller's.
2 - Some header or parameter I can put in the SIP message to cause it to auto-answer.

Thanks
Dale

hi,

1 - A way to configure a device to only auto-answer for certain caller's.

As far as we know, this is not possible.

2 - Some header or parameter I can put in the SIP message to cause it to auto-answer.

yes, this seems to be implimented, but most likely will require code change.

I believe the 'code change' mentioned above would be on the UCM side - i.e. a new UCM feature would be needed.  The upshot is that the current behaviour is as you describe.

Note, you can accomplish forcing a phone offhook+dial via CTI APIs - TAPI/JTAPI
