Cisco’s version 2.0 of the Cisco® Services Ready Engine Virtualization (SRE-V) software for the Cisco Unified Computing System™ Express (Cisco UCS™ Express) provides full functional parity with VMware vSphere Hypervisor™ 5.0.   SRE-V allows supported operating systems and their corresponding applications to be easily installed onto the service module. This feature reduces total cost of ownership by providing an all-in-one computing and networking system for branch offices.

Service Ready Engine Virtualization Service Ready Engine Virtualization

Cisco's Service Ready Engine Virtualization (SRE-V) is a converged computing, storage access, virtualization, and networking infrastructure for hosting edge applications in the lean branch office. SRE-V integrates multipurpose x86 blades and VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) virtualization with networking features of the Cisco IOS® Software and houses them in the second-generation Cisco ISR G2. The Cisco SRE-V solution enables multiple virtual instances of Microsoft Windows Server and other guest operating systems to run on dedicated general-purpose x86 blades directly inside the Cisco ISR G2.
