New SRE-V installation on plain SRE700

Combination View Flat View Tree View
Hi,

I just deleted an old WAAS application on my SRE700 to install SRE-V on it.
Now I ended up in:
Service Module is Cisco SM1/0
Service Module supports session via TTY line 67
Service Module is failed
Service Module heartbeat-reset is enabled
Service Module is in fail open
Service Module status is not available
No install/uninstall in progress

Localstore Info
=====================
  Please reset module to retrieve
  localstore information if needed

I tried to clean the SRE700 with the "sm-hw-util.1.1.1" but the SRE reports back "SM1/0 SW installation failed module not responding."

Reset and reload will not change the status.

Reloading the router itself does not change the status
I can aswell not session into the SRE, I can not see any bootloader.

I can PING the module from the router and the ftp server.

interface SM1/0
description SRE Module -> vSphere 192.168.99.100
 ip address 192.168.99.100 255.255.255.0
 service-module fail-open
 service-module ip address 192.168.99.101 255.255.255.0
 service-module ip default-gateway 192.168.99.100
 service-module mgf ip address 192.168.88.100 255.255.255.0
end

Any tip on that?

Ralf

Hi,

when I try to session in, it asks for username/password.... nothing of the preconfigured username/password are working anymore :-(

Is there a way to force reset/reload of the SRE?

As I do have that info

Ralf,

You should be able reset/reload the SRE from the IOS. The command to do this ¿service-module sm 1/0 reload¿ or ¿service-module sm 1/0 reset¿

Thanks,

Radhika

Ralf, Are you sure you uninstalled the WAAS successfully? What exactly do you mean by ¿deleted¿ ?

You need to use the hardware Utility when moving from Sre-v to WAAS but you don¿t need to use it when you are moving from WAAS to SRE-V. Can you try to install sre-v software directly and see what happens?

Thanks,

Radhika

This means there is no application currently installed on SRE. Can you hard-reset the router and then start SRE-V install. I hope your IOS version is 15.1.4M, if not you might want to upgrade the IOS first, then perform a hard reset of the router followed by SRE-V install.

Thanks

Hi Anurag,

I went to the office on the weekend and did hard reset the router. Now it is working. What I am wondering is that the reset and reload command on the CLI did not had any effect. Anyway it is working.
Thanks,
Ralf

It was a bug in IOS which was fixed in latest release and only solution was to hard reset the router.

Thanks

Anurag Gurtu, CISSP
