CUCM7 and CDR reporting - differential costing

Hello,

I have CUCM7 and i need to be able to accuratly track usage of calls and provide cost information. From what i have seen and read it seems that in CAR we can only assign one rate. I need to be able to assign multiple rates (mobile, international etc) is there a way of doing this in the cisco product range or do i need a third part billing server? If i need the billing server can anyone reconmend a very cheap software that will pickup the CDRs from a folder, rate them and allow historical reporting?

The goal is to stop abuse of the telephony and to track external usage and assign costs to departments etc.

The scope of this is for tracking of calls for a medium sized cmpany and we are not an SP so will just be for our own records.

Many thanks

Terry

Hi,

As far as I know. There isn't something built in that can allow you to do so. What you need is a billing system that would do call accounting, CDR collection, CDR analysis, and call rating.

Alternatively and if you wish not to buy anything, you would have to do a lot of SQL that is after you collect the CDRs in the first place and after you translate their field, cross matching rates with calls, etc.

NB: Where are you located?

Terry, Walid is correct- you are limited to what you can do within the CM software in regards to call accounting. Depending on how accurately you are trying to emulate your carrier/PSTN usage and costs for invoicing, it can get fairly demanding and eliminate you from being able to use the CM software for that purpose. Doing it 'inexpensively' for a 'medium' sized entity are relative, but if you are still looking then let me know and I can point you to someone that can likely help.
