[quote=Cesare Lorenzetti]Hi,
I am working with the AMX module for a Cisco C60 endpoint (Cisco_C60_Comm_dr1_0_0) version 2.0.2 and getting inconsistent results with the PHONEBOOKSEARCH command and a corporate phone book. It seems like maybe there are certain contacts in the phonebook that are causing a search that should return all the records (i.e. ID=*), to indicate zero results. I've tried adding one contact at a time, verifying that I can issue the search command and get all results, then when I get zero results I remove the last contact I added, but issuing another search command will still return zero results. The only way I seem to be able to get results again is to completley erase the phonebook and start over adding contacts. Is there any particual format the contacts should be in to work with this module? Or any suggestions as to what else I can try to troubleshoot this problem?
One other issue I've come across is the DIALID command does not seem to do anything. If I send the DIALID command to the virtual device (using an ID that was returned from a phonebook record), should I see an xcommand get issued to the physical device? I'm not seeing that happen.
Thanks,

sorry you have ended up as a bit of a bouncing-ball between Cisco and AMX. It is fairly recent that AMX have taken over both development and support for this module and AMX Tech support had unfortunately not been made aware of this.
Prior to the migration of Tandberg's Developer's Forum over to Cisco's Developer Network, I had posted a request for help regarding the inabliity of the AMX C series module recognizing that the codec has been power cycled and there by dumping all comm port configurations thrown to it by the module when it first initializes after the AMX controller is rebooted. Unfortunatley, the migration over the CDN has lost my posting on this issue, so I'm unable to see if there has been any further developments on this issue.

This is arrises whenever the IT department at the client's site decides they want to reboot the Tandberg C series codec after the control system has booted up. And until the control system is either rebooted or the REINIT command is sent to the module, the module stops transmitting any commands to the device port, thereby breaking all control of the device. Unfortunately, I am only able to control the codec over RS-232 as the AMX controller is not vetted to sit on the US government's network.

Has there been any headway made on this issue? I am still encountering control system faliures due to this issue, and am working on writting code to work around this issue. If this issue has been resolved or has a work around that I would not have to create, I would welcome either of these.

Thank you for your help in resolving this issue.

John B.

PS - We are experiencing this issue in an installation that includes some 120+ C series Tandberg codecs and a similiar amount of AMX NI-4100's. Any support to resolve this systemic issue would be apprecaited.

Hi Steven,
this sounds more like a camera issue than a module issue. If the camera for some reason looses track of its position it will need to do a position-reset back to a known position (which will be 0 degrees both vertical and horisontal). This has been known to happen sometimes if the preset positions is to any of the extremes. Please try to see if you you can store a position to a less extreme position and to a new preset store. Also if that camera is not connected directly to the codec (e.g. if no 2 or 3 in visca chain) check that it has the lastest firmware. If connected via visca only the 1st camera can receive new camera-firmware from codec.

When storing a preset allow the camera to stay in that position for a few seconds before storing the preset. If done too soon after moving the camera then the codec may not have received the latest position info from the camera before it stores the presets, thus the chance of storing an incorrect position. Could this be your case?

Cheers,
David
