OPEN_REQ fails to log agent in

We are integrating to UCCX 8.5 using protocol version 12 (also tried 14 and get the same behaviour).    We successfully send an OPEN_REQ (confirmed in the UCCX server log) and recieve an OPEN_CONF back with an AgentState of 9 (Unknown).    Any subsequent attempts to change agent state or make a call etc fail.
 
Comparing the messages to the Cisco Agent Desktop, we can see that the messages are identical.    When logging in via the CAD, we can verify via a Cisco Supervisor that this agent is logged in.     However, through our integration, the agent is not shown as being logged in.
 
Another strange thing, is that any string for the password will return the same OPEN_CONF message.
 
Could you explain what the difference could be, i.e. server config? or incorrect bit masks being set on the request?   (We are mimicing the CAD).

You need to send the setagentstate request after you send open request. Like you said, the open_conf message comes back with an Agent State of 9 (Unknown). You need to over ride this by sending setagentstate request. Only then will your agent be logged in and ready to accept calls
