UCCX v7 executing SFDC Web Services API

Hi all,
 
Salesforce.com (SFDC) exposes their Web Services API for other application to integrate with. I'm planning to use UCCX IVR to triggers these APIs to query/search/etc SFDC data and for screen pop. My understanding is this can be done by creating Java classes which the UCCX IVR can execute. Has this been done before or is this the right approach?

This appears to be a UCCX scripting question not a UCCX CTI protocol question and is therefore outside the scope of this tech center and forum.
