Greeting.  Need help in accessing the ESXi 5.0.0 hypervisor loaded onto the UCS-E module.
 
Here is the setup:

I have uploaded the Cisco ESXi 5.0 ISO image onto the ucs-e module and it boots up the image.  
 
I need help in configuring the ESXi side with proper network settings so that vSphere Client can communicate with it.  And, also need help on loading Video Surveillance Manager  (VSM) onto the UCS-E module as one of the virtual machine.
 
Please help.

I have the following suggestions below.

1. In the ucs4/0 I'm unclear regarding why you added the server ip address as this cli is ignored by the system. Please remove that.

2. Your ip route should point to the imc ip address specified in the ucs4/0 interface.

3. The ESXi host will have it's own unique ip address which you can get from the ESXi DCUI . You can also assign the host the ipv4 address in the DCUI if you prefer.

4. Use the address found or set in item 3 to access the ESXi log into host via vSphere Client.

5. If you're going to implement Vlans, once you've created your VMs, using vSphere networking you'll need to create a port group with the respective vlan id and assign the port group to the VM. You'll then create an ip route in the router that assigns the ip of the VM to the respective vlan.

I will remove the "server ip address ..." command from the configuration.

Do you have a few minutes to guide me through the vSphere Client setup to access the ESXi hypervisor? Please let me know and I can setup a webex meeting to get the details of using vSphere Client to create virtual machines.

If not, please point me to documentation that can be of help.

Thank you for the tips.  Yes, the UCS module's "M" port is connected to an external switch that is connected to the lab backbone.  But, I am not seeing any menu provided to configure the ESXi.
 
The server does not respond after displaying the following messages:

Let me know if there is a specific key combination to invoke the manual setup for ESXi host.

I have downloaded the "cisco oem lsi tg3.iso.zip" file from the knowledge base web page - http://developer.cisco.com/web/ucse/docs.

Here is the file that was uploaded onto the UCS module.
It is available the AS lab TFTP Server (calo-tftpserver) under "/incoming" directory:

Please let me know if the file size of 313362432 bytes is correct.

Thanks for the post guys!!  I was having the same problem... was on a MACbook running windows in VM Fusion... switched to a PC and everything worked fine.  You saved me some time and stress!!!
