Connected-Grid Testing

Interoperability Verification Testing
(IVT) offered under the program is designed to allow developers to demonstrate the interoperability of their products (application software and/or hardware) with Cisco technologies. View this diagram to understand the IVT process.

IVT varies by technology. To learn more about IVT for a particular technology, please refer to the respective Developer Center.

Program

Automation Solutions Developer Partners should apply for Interoperability Verification Testing (IVT) for interoperability with the Smart+Connected Residential Solution after accepting the CDN Agreement at the CDN Portal.

The Automation Solutions technology category utilizes testing through Cisco Partner Control4 as the IVT Lab for validating interoperability. CDN partners will develop drivers for integration, interoperability, or compatibility with the Cisco Smart+Connected Residential Solution using a variety of Software Development Kits and Application Program Interfaces available on the Automation technology category CDN Portal.

Smart+Connected Residential requires partner products that enhance the capabilities of the overall solution. Typically, this includes controlled devices including but not limited to lighting, door locks, sensors and media servers. Cisco Developer Network partners that are interested in software development and integration with the Cisco Smart+Connected Residential Solution are required to submit an IVT application through the standard IVT process.

Testing Requirement

Testing is required for Preferred and Solution Developer level Tiers. Registered Developers may optionally test to receive a Compatibility logo. See technology center details for program specific criteria and re-testing requirements

Documentation Library

  • Test Plan Templates (coming soon)
  • Lab Architectures (available to registered partners)
  • Test Methodology (see below)

Test methodology for the Connected Grid technology IVT depends on the technology category in question. For example, the IP-enabled Grid Devices technology requires the following steps: Phase 1: The partner will purchase the SDK Starter Kit using the CDN developer's discount. The Starter kit consists of a Connected Grid Router (CGR) and a management server on a UCS rack server. Using the starter kit and the SDK, the partner will develop and bench test their implementation of the Connected Gird Endpoint. Result of the bench test will submitted to Cisco as a prerequisite to the IVT.

Phase 2: The partner will connect to the CG IVT lab using their starter kit CGR and Cisco will execute a predefined test plan. If the tests pass, the IVT will be determined to be successful and partner endpoints considered "Cisco Compatible"

Fees

There are currently no fees associated with IVT Testing.

Testing participation requires a CDN membership, a registered product and a IVT Request. Test requests are submitted via the Developer Dashboard (link), under the Registered Products Tab. Select "Actions" and "Add New IVT" next to the product to be submitted for IVT. Detailed steps can be found in section 5.5 of Partner Application Instructions under "Additional Resources" at: http://developer.cisco.com/web/partner/join
