RE: PowerTool install failed: checking for powershell.exe

Hi Experts,

I am trying to install Cisco UCS PowerTool. This is the
configuration and versions:
Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
CiscoUcs-PowerTool-0.9.9.0.exe
PowerShell Version 2
The exact message I am getting is: “An error occurred checking
if powershell.exe is already running”
Powershell.exe is not running. I can’t find a log for
details about the error.

Any Help is appreciated!

Troyan,

There seems to be an issue with WMI service on your machine. You should use the WMI diagnosis utility (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff404265.aspx) to make sure that the service is working as intended.
Thanks,

Vijay,
Thank you for the suggestion. I “fixed” my problem by installing PowerTool on another server.
I try WMI utility on the failed server, but it is very difficult to even understand the output.
Why can’t it be like the old days – simple line in a log file!
Well, it is what it is - the "new normal" :-(
Thanks,
Troy
