Creating and Using Backup Configurations for Emulator

Is the Backup Configuration supported in v2.0(0.87151) of the emulator? To keep settings persistent across VM reboots, the UCS Platform Emulator Guide suggests "...Use the Configuration Export/Import feature of the GUI" to preserve user created configurations. When I try to create a configuration backup using the Admin -> Backup Configuration screens on the UCS Manager GUI, I consistently get failures either to save to the local disk or to scp to a server.  The only thing that seems to work is the "Export Configuration as an XML file" from the UCS Platform emulator control panel (browser window) which dumps an xml file to a browser window. This configuration has does not include organizations, vlans, etc, so it usefulness is rather limited.

Just tried this using the CLI on the UCSPE VM itself, because my browser is on my PC and the VM is running on a remote system. Result is that the CLI invoked backup fails as well. Looks to me like the whole backup thing on the Emulator is unsupported. Can someone please confirm?

Thanks to Jason Marchesano our local UCS systems engineer for providing the answer to this issue. There is no need to back up the configuration if the intent is to persist the state of the configuration in the VM across reboots. There is a radio button under the browser-based portion of the UCS Control Panel:
Open your browser to the UCSM IP Address
Click on Emulator Settings on the Bottom Left
Choose Database Persistence -> Preserve UCS Database upon Restart
Restart the VM with DB reset to initialize the settings.

This is all correct.  We are working for a future release to support taking a backup from a live UCSM into the emulator and vice versa so you can grab your entire config from a live system and import it (equipment, config, and all), as well as supporting the ability to take a XML backup from the emulator and import it back into a live system (configuration only).  This coupled with adding the needed emulation to make backups in the UCSM GUI should also achieve a even richer experience with UCSPE.
