The XDE SDK is available as an Eclipse plug-in. Supported versions of Eclipse include 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 and all require a Java 6 runtime. The recommended Eclipse package is the RCP bundle. This bundle includes other useful development tools which will compliment your XDE experience. The XDE SDK is currently available for Windows and Linux platforms. If you require a version for another platform, please contact the XDE team.
There are two methods for installing XDE. Existing Eclipse users can use our update site to install the plug-in within their current development environment. See the update site How To page for details on using this approach.
If this is your first time using Eclipse or you do not already have an Eclipse installation, you can use one of our bundled installs to get both Eclipse 3.6 and XDE. Bundled installs are provided for each XDE release as an archive (.zip) file. Simply download and extract this on to your development machine to install everything you need to get started with XDE.
