Module Form Factor/Industrial Design

Tradeoffs among module aesthetics, thermal performance, and module mass must be considered when designing the module hardware.

  • Module features must not interfere with the AP's antenna performance
  • Modules must be sized appropriately to dissipate heat sufficiently and not cause heating effects to the host AP.
  • Module center mass of not-to-exceed 1.95kg 1.5 inches away from the AP to avoid overloading the AP's ceiling mounting bracket
  • Production-grade modules must conform with Cisco's aesthetic specifications for expansion modules. Reach out to adp_support@cisco.com to learn more.

Installation

  • Module installation features must avoid causing the AP to accidentally dismount from ceiling bracket during installation.
  • Installation methods should consider where the Host AP is located and the ease of installation, for example, access from high ladders to reach AP's mounted on high ceilings. Loose hardware easily dropped and lost are not advised.
