What software do I need to use the Cisco Business Dashboard API?

No additional software is required to integrate with the API other than an instance of Cisco Business Dashboard. The API forms part of the core Dashboard application and no additional components are required.

Is there a license for the API?

Use of the Cisco Business Dashboard API is licensed under the terms of the Cisco API License, version 1.1. A copy of this license may be found here.

At this time, no additional license purchase is required to use the API beyond the basic Cisco Business Dashboard device licenses required for managing network devices. Certain applications provided by Cisco may require additional licenses on the Dashboard, but this is not currently required for third-party applications.

What programming language should I use?

The Cisco Business Dashboard API is a RESTful API, and there are no libraries or components that need to be directly integrated into the client application. As a result, you can use the programming language that you are most comfortable with to integrate with the API.

Does the API allow any access control or rate limiting of clients?

The API does not currently implement any throttling or rate limiting of clients. However, access to the API may be restricted by source IP address using the Access Control functionality found on the System > Platform Settings > Web Server page of the administration GUI.
