Secure Access DNS Forwarders: Virtual Appliances, DNS forwarding network entities, Overview

DNS Forwarders

Cisco Secure Access DNS Forwarders are Secure Access Virtual Appliances (VAs) or network entities deployed in an organization's environment as conditional DNS forwarders. In addition to acting as a DNS forwarder, Secure Access VAs can integrate with Active Directory (AD) through the Cisco AD Connector.

The Cisco Secure Access DNS Forwarders API enables you to view and manage your organization's Secure Access VAs and DNS forwarding network entities programmatically.

The Secure Access VAs and network entities send internet-bound DNS requests to the Secure Access DNS servers and forward internal DNS requests to the organization's internal DNS servers. You can register domains in Secure Access where DNS queries for these destinations bypass the Secure Access DNS resolvers. For more information, see Create Internal Domain.

You can find the Secure Access DNS Forwarders API endpoints under the deployments scope in the Secure Access API.
