Umbrella Virtual Appliances overview

Virtual Appliances

Umbrella Virtual Appliances (VAs) are lightweight virtual machines. The Umbrella Virtual Appliances API enables you to programmatically view and manage your organization's deployed VAs. VAs forward public DNS requests to Umbrella and forward internal DNS requests to the network's internal DNS servers. You can integrate your Umbrella VA deployments with Active Directory.

You can find the Umbrella Virtual Appliances API endpoints under the deployments scope in the Umbrella API.

Rate Limits for Deployments API Endpoints

Umbrella enables rate limits on the Virtual Appliances API endpoints. For more information, see Rate Limits > Deployments.

Request Headers

Unless specified, the Umbrella API endpoints use JSON for all requests and responses.

Note: For POST, PUT, and PATCH operations, set the HTTP Content-Type header to application/json in your API request.
