Manage Notifications
Alert: Cisco has made the end-of-life (EOL) announcement for the Cisco Edge Device Manager (EDM).
You can receive notifications from Cisco for security and network device firmware updates, or when critical events occur (such as when a network device or interface goes down).
Receive Cisco notifications
Cisco notification include information such as security alerts and the availability of firmware updates.
Click Operations > Notifications.
Select each of the notifications types and the user roles who will receive them.
For example, select Security Notifications to receive information about security issues from Cisco. An email is sent to all users in the selected user Roles.
Click Save.
Note: The Receive network device delete requests option is used to notify admins when a user requests to delete a device.
Receive device alert notifications
Event notifications are sent when a major device event occurs, such as when a device or event goes down.- Click Operations > Alerts > Alert Rule.
- Click Create Rule and enter a rule name and description.
- Select the network group that includes the devices you want notifications for.
- Select the Alert types that describe the type of events that will trigger notifications.
- Click Next and add any additional notification recipients. Recipients are users for the organization you are logged into.
- Select Email or SMS.
Note:
- SMS notifications require a phone number in the users' account profile. See the instructions outlined in the section "Add a Phone Number to your Profile" below.
- SMS text notifications are not currently supported.
- Click Next and review the settings.
- Click Create.
Tips:
- Under status, click Enable or Disable to turn notifications on or off.
Note: If the device-events table does not function, select disable to turn off notifications for the alert rule. - To edit an alert rule, click the Alert Name.
- To delete a rule, select the checkbox for an Alert Name and click the delete icon.
For the IG device, there are new alerts that will appear. Here's a list of the pertinent alerts.

Add a phone number to your profile
Add a phone number to your user profile to receive notification via SMS text. You must verify the phone number by entering a code sent to your phone.
Click the "people icon" in the far right of the header. Click My Profile.
Next to General Information, click Edit.
Enter the country code and phone number.
Enter numbers only. Do not include dashes, spaces, or other special characters.
Click Save.
Click Send Verification Code.
Enter the code that was sent to your phone and click Verify.
Tip: Click Resend Code if necessary.
