Logging into the System Administration Cockpit

Use the system administrator account to log into the System Administration Cockpit. While it is possible to view system settings in the System Administration Cockpit, making changes is considered a privileged task. To make system changes, be sure to login with the system administrator user configured during the initial setup.

Procedure

Open a web browser, and visit the System Administration Cockpit page for your CML system.

By default, the System Administration Cockpit page is at port 9090 on the same hostname or IP address as your CML server, for example https://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn:9090.

In releases prior to 2.8.0, before you log into the System Administration Cockpit, make sure to check the Reuse my password for privileged tasks check box, as shown in this screenshot.

After you log into the System Administration Cockpit, you can verify that your current session has elevated privileges by looking at the top of the page for the Administrative access indicator button. In previous releases, the same indicator had the label Privileged.

In CML cluster deployments, you may use the same System Administration Cockpit on the controller host for each known compute member host as well. Switch between the hosts in the cluster using the dropdown menu in the top-left corner.

When you switch the System Administration Cockpit to a compute member host, you will see a cut-down version of the :guilabel:CML2 maintenance page, and you will be in limited mode, as indicated in the same place at the top of the page.

Whenever your UI indicates that you are in limited access mode, you may be able to see most of the same information as in administrative access mode, but you will not be able to make changes to the system, or they may fail. This applies to the other subpages of the System Administration Cockpit, such as Networking, Storage and Software Updates.

Click the Limited Access button and authenticate using the password for the respective compute member host. The username must match on each compute member host, but the passwords may be different, depending on what you entered during initial configuration, or whether you changed the password on some hosts afterwards.
