MV Sense - People Detection Data in Specific Areas

You can create Areas and Lines on your Meraki Camera to separate your people detection data according to areas within the camera’s field of view (FoV).

Areas & Lines

Areas and Lines are a useful tool to identify specific areas of interest in your camera’s field of view. These both can be configured in the Dashboard then queried by MV Camera Intelligence APIs.

For example, in a retail environment you may want to build an integration which gives you insights into transactional data. In this case, you could create an area around the Point of Sale system.

Configuring Areas & Lines in the Meraki Dashboard

To create an Area or Line:

1. Navigate to Cameras > Monitor > Cameras and select a camera.
2. Go to Analytics. Click on Create Area or Create Line.
3. Move the area box or line to fit your requirements and define a name for you area or line.
4. Click Save. You can now query this with MV Camera Intelligence APIs!

Once an area or line is created, you can make requests for any person detection events captured within the area, or crossing the line.
