Cisco DevNet Terms of Service
The Cisco DevNet Terms of Service (the "Agreement") govern Your access to and use of Cisco DevNet, including all software code, files, web pages, sandboxes, forums, communication channels, tools, downloads, support, and other services available through https://developer.cisco.com/ (together, "Cisco DevNet"). This Agreement is between You ("You" or "User") and Cisco Systems, Inc. ("Cisco") and applies to all Cisco DevNet services and communities.
BY SELECTING THE "I AGREE" BUTTON, BY REGISTERING, AND/OR BY ACCESSING CISCO DEVNET, YOU AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT AND THE REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES HEREIN.
IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THIS ENTIRE AGREEMENT, OR DO NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO ENTER INTO THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT PRESS "I AGREE", DO NOT REGISTER, AND DO NOT ACCESS CISCO DEVNET. ALL USE OF CISCO DEVNET SERVICES AND COMMUNITIES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
General
All uses of Cisco DevNet are governed by the Cisco Web Site Terms of Use ("Cisco Web Site Terms"), which govern all cisco.com web pages and are incorporated in their entirety into this Agreement. By accepting this Agreement, You represent that You have read and agree to the Cisco Web Site Terms.
The following terms and conditions add to or amend the Cisco Web Site Terms for the purposes of this Agreement and Cisco DevNet use only. Where there is any conflict between this Agreement and the Cisco Web Site Terms regarding Your use of Cisco DevNet, this Agreement controls.
Registration and Eligibility
There is no charge for Cisco DevNet registration. By agreeing to these terms and registering for a profile, You represent and warrant that (i) all registration information You submit to Cisco DevNet is truthful and accurate; (ii) You have the right, authority, and capacity to agree to and abide by this Agreement; (iii) if You are accessing Cisco DevNet on behalf of an entity, You have the right, authority, and capacity to bind that entity to this Agreement; (iv) You are not a Minor Child; and (v) Your use of Cisco DevNet services and communities will always be in strict accordance with this Agreement and all terms incorporated herein.
Cisco DevNet is also not available to: (i) any Users that have been suspended or removed from these services and communities by Cisco, for any reason; or (ii) persons or entities barred from using or accessing Cisco DevNet under the laws of the United States or other applicable jurisdictions.
Cisco Developer and Cisco DevNet are also not available to any Users that have been suspended or removed from these services and communities by Cisco, for any reason.
Cisco reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor and take action as needed to ensure Users' compliance with these terms.
Services
1. General Terms. Cisco DevNet services and features are governed by Cisco's General Terms ("General Terms"), which is incorporated into this Agreement. In the event of any conflict between the General Terms with regard to applicable Cisco DevNet services or features, this Agreement controls.
2. Services and Features for a Fee. While the Cisco DevNet services and features are presently accessible to Users for free, Cisco may now or in the future offer access to certain Cisco DevNet features or services for a fee. You acknowledge that Cisco, in its sole discretion, may at a later date require Users to pay a fee to continue accessing services or features that were previously available free of charge.
3. Developer Sandboxes . Cisco DevNet offers Users access to developer sandboxes intended for the development and testing of software to be used in conjunction with Cisco products ("Permitted Use"). This service is provided to Users for their convenience, without technical support or assistance.
Accessing a Cisco DevNet sandbox requires a reservation and is subject to current availability. Cisco may cancel or reschedule sandbox reservations for any reason and without notice. Cisco may also terminate access and/or remove User accounts for any violation of: (i) this Agreement; (ii) any of the terms that are referenced and have been incorporated herein; (iii) applicable law; (iv) or other improper conduct when using Cisco DevNet sandboxes.
Cisco DevNet sandboxes may provide You limited access to Cisco products, services, software, APIs, SDKs, sample code, and other technologies. Access to the Cisco DevNet sandboxes is limited only for the purposes of the Permitted Use and for the duration of Your reservation. Some features and functionality may not be available. In no event shall Cisco have any liability related to Your use of Cisco DevNet sandboxes, including, but not limited to, Your inability to access sandboxes and loss of Your data, regardless of the reason.
4. Support . Cisco DevNet services and features are provided as-is and without support. If You need Cisco API support while using Cisco DevNet, user community-based support resources are available through Cisco DevNet's user forums, Cisco Webex Teams rooms (for Cisco employees), and knowledge base articles. All information and data that You submit to community support resources shall be considered public and will be available to other Users. Cisco makes no representations about and has no liability for these community support resources. All use of these resources, and the advice and guidance therein, is at Your own risk.
5. Prohibited Use of the Services. You may not use Cisco DevNet services to:
- (a) Substantially replicate and compete with any underlying Cisco product or service;
- (b) Collect, store, or transmit confidential, sensitive, or personal data, or information without prior authorization;
- (c) Disable, disrupt, circumvent, interfere with, or otherwise violate the security of any Cisco product, service, or user, or any mechanism that limits Your use of the Cisco DevNet services;
- (d) Access any application, system, service, computer, data, account, or network without prior authorization;
- (e) Reverse engineer or extract source code, except to the extent restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable law;
- (f) Process or store any data that would give rise to a violation of applicable export control law and regulation;
- (g) Engage in activity that is fraudulent, false or misleading, or that violates the rights of any third party;
- (h) Merge, integrate or use the Cisco DevNet services with any software that is subject to license terms that require any Cisco confidential information to be licensed or otherwise shared with any third party (for example only, GPL license terms); or
- (i) Enable any application or situation where failure of the Cisco DevNet services could lead to death or serious bodily injury of any person, or to severe physical or environmental damage.
Cisco DevNet Privacy Addendum
6. Cisco DevNet Privacy Practices. Cisco will collect, use and, process Your data only in accordance with Cisco's Online Privacy Statement ("Privacy Statement"), which is incorporated into this Agreement.
Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the Privacy Statement, by accepting this Agreement, You agree to the following:
- (a) Cisco may contact You via email or other contact information provided in Your registration, with information related to Your use of Cisco DevNet.
- (b) Your name, profile name, or other identifying information will be listed in the header of communications You initiate through Cisco DevNet.
- (c) Your Cisco DevNet Learning Labs status, badges earned, and Your list of projects can be viewed by Your company.
- (d) Your credentials (e.g. passwords, keys, and client IDs) are only to be used by You. You will keep credentials confidential and from use by any third party. Your credentials may not be embedded in open source projects and must be encrypted in transit.
In Your user profile, You may specify whether Your profile is Public or Private. Private status is always chosen by default when You register for Cisco DevNet. If You choose to change Your profile to Public, in addition to the permissions already granted under this Agreement and the Privacy Statement, You also agree that other Users can contact You and view information about Your activity within Cisco DevNet, including Your Cisco DevNet Learning Labs status, badges earned, and Your list of projects.
7. Your Privacy Obligations. To the extent You receive access to end user information, inclusive of Personal Data ("User Data"), through Your use of Cisco DevNet services and features to enable Your apps, add-ons, configuration file, technical add-ons, connectors, plug-ins, module, command, function and any other technology or content that extends the features or functionality of Cisco products or services or supports interoperability between Cisco products or services and other systems and environments ("API Client(s)"), You represent and warrant that You have notified Cisco and all Your end users who are subjects of the User Data, or will notify them prior to their use of Your API Client(s), that You may receive such data, and that Cisco is not responsible for the privacy, security or integrity of User Data collected through use of Your API Client(s). You further represent and warrant that, to the extent Your API Client(s) stores, processes, collects or transmits User Data, processing of such data will be done in accordance with applicable privacy and security laws and regulations and in a manner consistent with the Cisco standards set forth in the Cisco Trust Center , as amended from time to time. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Cisco employees and contractors using Cisco DevNet to enable Applications will collect, use, and process Personal Data in accordance with the Privacy Statement.
Cisco DevNet Licensing Terms and Conditions Addendum
8. Licensing Terms and Conditions. In addition to the license grants provided by the Cisco Web Site Terms, any content available through Cisco DevNet that does NOT specify its own separate license terms and conditions shall be governed by the following licenses, as applicable:

Cisco Binary/Executable Software: General Terms
For the avoidance of doubt, if any content DOES specify its own separate license terms and conditions, only those terms shall apply. You will also maintain all licenses, permits and permissions necessary in order for Cisco DevNet to publish or host Your content.
9. Open Source Licenses. Some of the software required by or included in the content available for download through Cisco DevNet may be offered under an open source license, which is a separate agreement. To the limited extent the open source software license expressly supersedes the Agreement, the open source license instead sets forth Your agreement with Cisco for the applicable open source software.
Disclaimer and Limitation on Liability
In addition to what is stated in the Cisco Web Site Terms and in the applicable agreements referenced in this Agreement, Cisco assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay, failure in operation, destruction, alteration, or loss of user submissions, content, communications, or other data or materials, nor does Cisco warrant that the content is accurate, complete, reliable, or error-free. Cisco is not responsible for any problem, failure, or malfunction of any telecommunication network, computer system, server, device, application, software, or service, or for any injury or damage to Users or their property, related to or resulting from using Cisco DevNet, for any reason and regardless of fault.
NOTWITHSTANDING ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY, CISCO'S LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CAUSE(S) WHATSOEVER AND REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF THE ACTION, WILL AT ALL TIMES BE LIMITED TO FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS (USD $500.00). THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY IS CUMULATIVE AND NOT PER INCIDENT. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN KINDS OF DAMAGES. ACCORDINGLY, SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
CISCO DOES NOT CONTROL, ENDORSE, OR ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY THIRD-PARTY CONTENT OR INFORMATION ACCESSIBLE FROM OR LINKED THROUGH CISCO DEVNET AND MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES ABOUT SAID THIRD PARTY CONTENT OR INFORMATION. YOU AGREE TO NOT REPRESENT IN YOUR MARKETING OR PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS THAT YOU ARE: (I) A CISCO PARTNER (UNLESS OTHERWISE SET FORTH IN A SEPARATE AGREEMENT WITH CISCO); (II) CERTIFIED BY CISCO; OR (III) OVERSTATE IN YOUR PROMOTIONAL OR MARKETING MATERIALS YOUR AFFILIATION OR RELATIONSHIP WITH CISCO.
Indemnification
You will defend and indemnify Cisco, and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and users, against all liabilities, damages, losses, costs, fees (including legal fees), and expenses relating to any allegation or third-party legal proceeding to the extent arising from:
- (a) Your misuse or, if You are an entity, Your end users' misuse of Cisco DevNet services and features;
- (b) Your violation or, if You are an entity, Your end users' violation of this Agreement or any of the additional terms referenced and incorporated herein; or
- (c) Any content or data into or used with Cisco DevNet by You, those acting on Your behalf, or, if You are an entity, Your end users.
Changes to This Agreement
Cisco may elect to change or supplement this Agreement from time to time at its sole discretion. Cisco will exercise commercially reasonable efforts to provide notice of any material changes to the Agreement, and within three (3) business days of posting changes to the Agreement, they will be binding. If You do not agree with the changes, You must discontinue using Cisco DevNet at that time. If You continue accessing Cisco DevNet after that time, You will be deemed to have accepted the changes to this Agreement.
